Oh You Beautiful Doll

Submitted by Atlas Indicators Investment Advisors on April 19th, 2018

I am often astounded by my own ignorance.  Throughout my entire life there have been things I never thought to question, things taken for granted simply because they existed as a seemingly natural part of my environment.  Like air itself, some objects and ideas are never questioned, not because they shouldn't be but more due to their ubiquitous presence and general acceptance by society at large.

Recently I had one of those moments when such a blasé foundation was shaken to its core.  I discovered Barbie had a last name!  Heck, she has an entire family and apparently this whole thing with Ken really is a thing - sorta.  Who knew?  Well obviously someone did but I've yet to meet them.  Life truly is full of surprises.

If you are taken aback by this revelation, allow me to fill in some details.  Barbara Millicent Roberts was created (dare I say born?) in 1959, a product of the union between her father George, an engineer, and her mother Margaret..  She is said to live in Willows, Wisconsin with her THREE siblings: Skipper and the twins Tutti and Todd.  Her dalliance with Ken Carson (yes, he has a last name too) is actually a sort of on again-off again affair.

I was 14 when she came into this world and have always taken her at face value.  Christopher has known of her his entire life.  At best we saw her as someone incredibly spoiled (a bumper sticker laments that she has everything) but still somehow enduring.  Hopefully this brief missive will make up for our previous inconsiderate attitude.  Additionally, there seems to be no truth to the rumored affair between her and G.I. Joe.  FAKE NEWS!  And I really doubt that D. J. Trump toyed with her as a lad in as much as his hands appear to be too small to gain a good grasp.   (by J R)
